MEET OUR HEADCOACH
Ivam Maciel is 39, born in Curitiba, Brazil and has been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for over two decades. In BJJ, Ivam’s lineage is through Carlson Gracie > De La Riva > Eduardo Brigadeiro. Ivam has also trained in Muay-Thai and Vale-Tudo at legendary Chute Boxe Academy under Anderson Silva and Rodrigo Vidal.
IVAM'S JIU-JITSU JOURNEY
WHITE BELT
Ivam began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey in December 2000 at the age of 16.
BLUE BELT
By July 2002, at the age of 18, Ivam achieved the rank of Blue Belt, conferred by Coach Neylor ‘Sargento’ Almeida, a Black Belt under Eduardo Brigadeiro.
PURPLE BELT
While at the Blue Belt level, Ivam dedicated over 10 hours per week to training, engaging in competitions at least twice a month. This rigorous training regimen not only provided him with valuable experience but also enabled him to contribute to teaching beginners' classes under his coach. In December 2003, at the age of 19, Ivam earned his Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Concurrently, he commenced training in Vale-Tudo at Chute Boxe in Cascavel, Brazil, under the guidance of coaches Rodrigo Vidal and Anderson Silva.
BROWN BELT
After two years as a Purple Belt, in December 2005, Ivam Maciel advanced to the rank of Brown Belt at the age of 21, under the tutelage of Coach Eduardo Brigadeiro.
BLACK BELT
In May 2008, at the age of 24, Ivam achieved the pinnacle of his Jiu-Jitsu journey, obtaining his Black Belt after nearly three years as a Brown Belt. This prestigious accomplishment was realized under the auspices of the same school where his BJJ journey commenced: Brigadeiro Jiu-Jitsu.
BLACK BELT 1st DEGREE
August 2011 marked another significant milestone for Ivam Maciel, as he attained the rank of Black Belt First Degree at the age of 27. He received this honor from Coach Eduardo Brigadeiro and Brigadeiro's coach, the esteemed Ricardo De La Riva, at De La Riva’s Dojo in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
BLACK BELT 2nd DEGREE
In September 2014, at age 30, Ivam progressed to Black Belt 2nd Degree. Once again, this accolade was bestowed upon him in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, by his mentor, Coach Eduardo Brigadeiro.
BLACK BELT 3rd DEGREE
October 2017 saw Ivam achieve his 3rd Degree on his Black Belt at the age of 33. This recognition was conferred by Coach Eduardo Brigadeiro during a seminar in Brighton, England, as part of Brigadeiro's Seminar Tour on Friday, October 13, 2017.
BLACK BELT 4th DEGREE
In April 2022, at age 38, Ivam attained his 4th Degree on his Black Belt in Jacksonville, United States. This distinguished recognition was presented by Coach Eduardo Brigadeiro on Saturday, April 16, 2022.
